Statement from Priorities USA Chairman Guy Cecil on Senator Raphael Warnock’s Victory in the Georgia Senate Runoff

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Guy Cecil, Chairman of Priorities USA, issued the following statement in response to Senator Raphael Warnock’s winning re-election campaign:

“Georgia voters turned out once again to re-elect Senator Warnock in a fiercely competitive runoff election. This pivotal win speaks to the power of building a broad, diverse coalition that reflects every corner of the state and every background of its voters. Priorities supported Warnock’s candidacy through a $1 million digital investment in targeted voter engagement to drive Georgia’s communities of color out to the polls. Because of Georgia voters’ formidable turnout, Democrats will now wield a stronger majority in the Senate, clearing the way for them to continue to pass legislation that will benefit all Americans.

“In two short years, Senator Warnock has delivered real results for Georgians, including lowering health care and prescription drug costs and expanding opportunities for industries critical to the state’s success.

“While it’s important to celebrate this victory, we must also remember that Georgia is still the center of many of the most critical challenges that we face, including persistent attacks on the right to vote. This year, Priorities filed a legal challenge against the wet signature provision in SB 202, a law that disproportionately creates barriers to vote for voters of color, elderly voters and other marginalized groups.

“I am extremely proud of the team at Priorities USA who worked tirelessly to support the work on the ground that made this victory possible. Now we will turn our attention to 2024 and delivering another victory for President Biden.”
