Priorities USA and Majority Forward Launch $3 Million Digital Campaign to Encourage In-Person Early Voting
As states across the country begin early voting, Priorities USA and Majority Forward are launching a new digital ad campaign to educate voters in select states about how they can cast their ballot early in person and encourage them to do so.
The $3 million campaign will begin running statewide in Michigan and select counties in Pennsylvania today, and will go live statewide in North Carolina on October 15. The ads will primarily target young Black and Latino voters with a mix of videos, GIFs and statics on a variety of social and streaming video platforms, and will run throughout each state’s early voting period. Examples of the ads can be found here and here.
We anticipate that a majority of voters will cast their vote before Election Day this year. Nationally, more than a third of likely voters have indicated that they intend to vote by mail in 2020, while a fifth have indicated that they are likely to vote early in person. About five percent of likely voters are not yet sure how they intend to cast their ballots.
Intent to vote early in person varies across states. For example, only 9% of voters in Michigan and Pennsylvania — states that have not historically offered voters the opportunity to vote early in person — plan to do so this year. By investing in this program, Priorities USA and Majority Forward hope to educate voters on all available vote methods in their state in an attempt to ensure as many voters can make their voices heard as possible.
“This is shaping up to be one of the most consequential elections of our lifetime, and it’s important that every American has the opportunity to make their voice heard,” said Patrick McHugh, Executive Director of Priorities USA. “Voters have several methods to cast their ballots this year — by mail, early in person or on Election Day. We know this can be confusing for some, and we’re committed to letting voters know all their options so they can pick the one that works best for them and ensure their vote is counted.”
“As we head into the final stretch of the election, we’re making sure we use every tool available to mobilize voters,” said J.B. Poersch, President of Majority Forward. “The stakes have never been higher, and while COVID-19 has changed the way we engage with voters, our commitment to increased participation remains the same. Voters are energized and turning out in record numbers, and our new program will ensure they have the resources to make a plan that works for them.”
