Priorities USA Highlights Continued Threat of Republican-Aligned Extremist Violence With New Digital Ad

June 28, 2022

Washington, D.C. — Today, Priorities USA announced an expansion of its digital voter re-engagement program with a new ad highlighting the threat of Republican-aligned extremist violence. The new ad, ‘BodyCam,’ emphasizes that extreme Republican candidates are supported by Donald Trump and will work to return him to power, threatening more extremist violence like the insurrection on January 6th.

The ad will run on digital platforms in Arizona, Nevada, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. These battleground states are key targets in Priorities’ initial $30 million investment to persuade and mobilize voters on digital platforms ahead of the midterm elections. In light of increased news saturation about the January 6th hearings, the ad will specifically target voters who do not regularly consume reliable news about politics.

This ad campaign continues Priorities’ efforts to remind voters that Republican-aligned extremism is still a grave threat. On the anniversary of the January 6th insurrection, Priorities announced two ads holding Republicans accountable for supporting violent efforts to subvert elections.

Polling from Priorities USA indicates that voters in key battleground states are more likely to vote and support Democrats when the Republican Party’s complicity with white supremacist and extremist groups such as QAnon and the Proud Boys is emphasized.

Priorities USA is engaging with key constituencies that have tuned out since 2020, emphasizing the urgency of electing Democrats who can focus on important issues like lowering costs and increasing health care access, and opposing an extremist Republican agenda. Last week, following the overturning of Roe v. Wade, Priorities released a six-figure ad buy with NARAL Freedom Fund warning about the threat of extremist Republican restrictions on abortion.

“This midterm election is a stark choice between the meaningful progress championed by Democrats and an extremist Republican agenda that protects insurrectionists, attacks women’s rights, and puts big corporations ahead of working- and middle-class Americans,” said Priorities USA Chairman Guy Cecil. “Voters’ concerns are not limited to a single issue. In order to effectively persuade and mobilize the constituencies Democrats need to win, we must speak to kitchen table issues while addressing the very real threat of extremism and white supremacist violence. Priorities USA has developed a comprehensive program that speaks to these concerns and meets voters where they are.”
