Priorities USA Foundation Statement on Polk County District Court Ruling

January 25, 2019

In response to Polk County District Court Judge Romano’s ruling yesterday, Priorities USA Chairman, Guy Cecil released the following statement:

“We applaud Judge Romano’s decision and are gratified the Court agreed that the Secretary of State’s rule is ‘irrational, illogical and wholly unjustifiable.’ Voters rightly expect to receive their absentee ballots without pointless hassles and delays. This ruling removes an unnecessary barrier to voting absentee.

The Priorities USA Foundation has been proud to support this effort to keep absentee voting in Iowa easy, fast, and fair. We look forward to the trial later this year in a second Priorities-sponsored case challenging other provisions of House File 516, the state’s new Voter ID law.”
