Priorities USA poll: Voters want GOP to move past ACA repeal

Democratic super PAC Priorities USA released new polling suggesting voters want President Donald Trump and Republicans to move on from attempting to repeal Obamacare and that they oppose the president’s plan to let Obamacare “implode.”
Three-quarters of all voters, including 64 percent of those who backed Trump last November, says Trump and the GOP have “a responsibility to implement and improve the Affordable Care Act to help provide health care for the American people.” Fifty-three percent say the GOP-controlled Congress and Trump should “move on to something else,” while only 39 percent would prefer they continue trying to repeal and replace Obamacare.
Just a third of voters say Trump’s plan to let Obamacare fail makes them feel more favorably toward him, while 56 percent told the pollsters it made them feel less favorably toward the president.
“President Trump’s stated plan of making the Affordable Care Act fail is unpopular with voters and would be highly damaging to Republicans if carried out,” the pollsters conclude. “Congressional Democrats have already made it clear that they are ready and willing to work with Republicans to strengthen and improve the Affordable Care Act to help provide better health care to the American people. That is exactly what voters want to see happen.”
Global Strategy Group and Garin-Hart-Yang conducted the survey of 1,013 presidential-year voters from July 24-27. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.
