EVERYTOWN VICTORY FUND ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH PRIORITIES USA ACTION, AND $6 MILLION AD BUY TARGETING PRESIDENT TRUMP IN FLORIDA
Today, Everytown for Gun Safety Victory Fund (“Everytown”) announced a partnership with Priorities USA Action to defeat Donald Trump and elect Joe Biden, and announced that it will spend $6 million on television and digital ads in Florida, which will begin running after Labor Day. The advertising campaign will include $4 million in television ads, which will run in the Orlando and Tampa media markets, and $2 million in digital ads, which will run statewide.
Everytown will partner with Priorities USA to produce the ads, which represent Everytown’s first major ad buy in Florida this cycle and first major ad buy in the presidential campaign.
“Facing a gun violence crisis that claims 100 American lives every day, President Trump has chosen the gun lobby over the safety of the American people at every turn,” said John Feinblatt, head of Everytown Victory Fund. “Together with Priorities, we’re going all-in to make sure Trump’s a one-term president. Everytown has an aggressive plan to mobilize voters in Florida, who know the pain of gun violence all too well and are poised to play a decisive role in electing Joe Biden, a proven gun sense champion.”
“American families have endured unspeakable tragedy because of the epidemic of gun violence. While an overwhelming number of Americans support sensible gun safety measures, Donald Trump and his Republican allies refuse to act,” said Guy Cecil, Chairman of Priorities USA. “Priorities is proud to partner with Everytown to give voice to this important issue on the airwaves and hold Donald Trump accountable for his failure to keep us safe. Florida voters are ready for a president who will put them first. They’re ready for Joe Biden.”
A May survey of voters in 13 battleground states including Florida showed that gun safety-themed messages were among the most impactful at moving voters’ support to Joe Biden, and that messaging focused on the impacts of COVID-19 on America’s gun violence crisis was the second most effective overall at shifting support to Biden. Recent polling shows Latino voters in Florida consider opposition to background checks on all gun sales to be the most disqualifying position a candidate could take.
This year, Everytown for Gun Safety Victory Fund and Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund will spend $60 million on the 2020 elections, doubling what they spent during the 2018 elections.
