Priorities USA Will Launch Ad Campaign Urging Voters to Demand Trump and Republicans Work on Real Solutions, Not Shutting Down the Government
Ads Will Air on National Cable and Run Online in Arizona, Nevada and Key House Districts
Washington — Tonight, Priorities USA announced it is preparing to launch a seven-figure television and digital ad campaign in the event Republicans move ahead with their government shutdown. The ad campaign will call on voters to deliver a simple message to Trump and their Republican members of Congress: they should be working on real solutions to the problems facing the country, not shutting down the government.
If Trump and the Republicans shut down the government, Priorities’ ad will air on cable nationwide and will be accompanied by a targeted online program that will reach voters via Facebook and YouTube pre-roll video in Arizona, Nevada and key House districts. To view the ad, click here.
“With threats to national security around the globe, health care costs rising here at home thanks to Trump and Republicans and the fate of thousands of Dreamers on the line, now is not the time for Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress to shut down the government—especially when they control every lever of power in Washington,” said Guy Cecil, Chairman of Priorities USA. “The American people deserve a government that works for them, and after a year of completely controlling government it’s clear that Trump and the Republicans aren’t up to the job.”
Over the course of 2018, Priorities USA will spend $50 million on digital ads supporting Democratic candidates in gubernatorial, House, Senate and state legislative races. Last year, Priorities supported Senator Doug Jones’ election in Alabama and the Governor Ralph Northam-led Democratic wave in Virginia. Priorities also ran a number of issue campaigns that significantly dampened the popularity of the Republican tax law and contributed to the defeat of the GOP’s attempted repeal of the Affordable Care Act.
