Statement from Priorities USA Executive Director Regarding Changes to Facebook Targeting Guidelines
Today, Priorities USA Executive Director Danielle Butterfield issued the following statement in response to Facebook’s decision to remove critical targeting options for advertisers from its platform:
“Facebook is yet again making unnecessary changes to protect profits, not their users. This announcement is yet another distraction from Facebook’s refusal to address the dangerous organic content on their platform, which has nothing to do with advertising.
“Since 2016, Priorities USA has approached online targeting as something that is constantly evolving. Our program is built to navigate unexpected changes from platforms and we will continue to share our research and analysis with partners in the progressive space to strengthen voter engagement strategies. This decision by Facebook is the latest example of why we must diversify the platforms we use to connect with voters heading into 2022 and beyond.”
