Statement from Priorities USA Executive Director Danielle Butterfield on President Biden’s Speech on the Fight for American Democracy
Washington, D.C. — Tonight, Danielle Butterfield, Executive Director of Priorities USA, issued the following statement following President Biden’s speech at Union Station:
“Voters came out in historic numbers to elect Joe Biden in 2020 because they knew he’d be a strong, steady leader that our country needs in a time of so much uncertainty. Priorities USA is proud that we have continued to support the president’s leadership and strong progressive agenda that will move our country forward.
“It is critically important that Democrats clearly name the threats that we face as a country. Joe Biden has boldly done just that.
“Meanwhile, GOP leaders have demonstrated they have no respect for democracy or the rule of law. Yet, while Republicans only distract and divide the American people with racism and bigotry, Democrats are actually delivering on their promises and supporting working families.
“Over the last two years, Priorities USA has used every resource at our disposal to mobilize voters in the fight to protect reproductive health access, voting rights and the preservation of our democracy. We have done so in the face of a GOP that has launched a coordinated attack against this country’s most marginalized communities.
“There is less than a week until the midterm elections and Priorities will continue to make this case to voters until the last ballot is cast on Election Day.
