Statement from Priorities USA Chairman Guy Cecil Regarding Department of Justice Decision to Sue Georgia Over Voter Suppression Law

This morning, the Department of Justice announced that it would sue Georgia over its recently passed voter suppression legislation. Priorities USA Chairman Guy Cecil issued the following statement:

“Today’s decision by the Department of Justice is another reminder that elections matter. The Biden administration is rightly focused on the crucial work of defending the right to vote for every single American, particularly the voting rights of communities of color — which restrictions like those passed in Georgia are designed to suppress.

Priorities USA and our allies will continue to work in the courts and on the ground to advance voting rights and center the voices of Black, brown, and young voters in our efforts. I am grateful the Department of Justice is taking this necessary step to preserve our democracy and I am confident that the administration will continue to take further action to protect the right to vote.”
