Priorities USA Statement on New Hampshire Supreme Court Striking Down Voter Suppression Law

Today, the New Hampshire Supreme Court struck down the state’s proof of domicile law — deciding that the law violates the New Hampshire State Constitution. The law placed unreasonable burdens on access to the ballot, particularly for students. The lawsuit was supported by Priorities USA and filed on behalf of the League of Women Voters of New Hampshire and individual college-aged voters. Priorities USA Chairman Guy Cecil issued the following statement in response to the ruling:

“I am thrilled that the New Hampshire State Supreme Court has decided in favor of the voters. This decision will particularly benefit young voters who are disproportionately targeted by voter suppression efforts,” said Priorities USA Chairman Guy Cecil. “After the Supreme Court of the United States delivered a blow to the Voting Rights Act just yesterday, I am hopeful that this ruling will instill confidence in voting rights advocates everywhere that the fight for fair, equitable ballot access is far from over. I am confident that this ruling will be followed by others to expand and protect ballot access.”
