As the Trump administration prepares to file a brief asking the Supreme Court to overturn the Affordable Care Act, Priorities USA Action is releasing a new TV ad, “Failing On Health Care,” focusing on the dire consequences facing American families if Trump succeeds: skyrocketing health care costs and the loss of protections for people with pre-existing conditions. The ad highlights Trump’s continued efforts to terminate a program that millions of people rely on to access care — in the midst of an ongoing pandemic that he has failed to control. With more than 45 million losing their jobs and millions losing their employer-sponsored health insurance in the process, Trump and his Republican allies are trying to take away one of their only lifelines at this critical, life-or-death moment.
“Failing On Health Care” will run on TV in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan.
Priorities USA Action is also releasing two new digital ads, “Pull the Plug” and “Consequences,” which will be added to our ongoing digital program across battleground states. “Pull the Plug” emphasizes how 133 million Americans could lose protections and costs could rise for patients living with conditions like cancer, diabetes and asthma if Trump’s Supreme Court challenge is successful. “Consequences” shines a light on Trump’s mishandling of the coronavirus crisis and highlights how his efforts to overturn the ACA could make the bad situation he created even worse.
Priorities USA Action is spending over $2 million per week in advertising in key battleground states. This is part of Priorities’ commitment to spend over $200 million through the end of the year to defeat Donald Trump and ensure that Joe Biden is the next President of the United States.
“Even as the American people continue to fight for our lives in the battle against this deadly pandemic, Donald Trump and his Republican allies are in court as we speak trying to terminate the Affordable Care Act, tearing protections away from millions of Americans at the moment they need them most,” said Guy Cecil, Chairman of Priorities USA. “Donald Trump’s incompetence created this mess and now he’s hellbent on making it worse. We simply can’t afford four more years of his failed leadership. Now more than ever, we need a president who will fight to ensure every single American has access to affordable, high-quality health care. We need Joe Biden.”
