Research at Priorities USA
To help Democrats defeat Trump in 2020, Priorities is engaged in consistent, long-term public opinion research focused on identifying and refining the most effective strategies Democrats can employ in their messaging against Trump and the Republican agenda, as well as the investments we should make to get to 270 electoral votes. Our work will identify the messages that voters need to hear, those that are breaking through the noise, and the important issues that are not. We’ll focus on all of the voters crucial to building a coalition to defeat Trump, rejecting the either/or approach to building our coalition and developing messaging that promotes both shared prosperity and full equality.
Our work will be informed by the in-depth research projects we invested in during 2017 and 2018. We collaborated with partners on projects that contributed to Democratic successes in special elections and the 2018 midterms, both by learning how best to define the GOP’s disastrous policies on health care and taxes, and also by learning more about critical groups of voters, including both swing and turnout voters.

Finally, we’ll continue to support the work of our allies by openly sharing our research with over 50 progressive and Democratic organizations and collaborating on research projects that are beneficial to the movement.
