Priorities USA Foundation Statement on Florida Early Voting Litigation Win

In response to Judge Mark Walker granting a preliminary injunction against Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner’s interpretation of the state’s early voting law, which he had claimed prohibits public college and university campuses from hosting early voting sites, Guy Cecil, Chairman of the Priorities USA Foundation, released the following statement:

“We are encouraged by Judge Walker’s ruling preventing Secretary Detzner from enforcing his discriminatory and unconstitutional prohibition on allowing early vote locations to be hosted on public college and university campuses. However, we know that this is only the beginning of a longer process to ensure that Florida’s young people have equal access to the ballot box—one that will require a grassroots effort throughout the state calling on local officials to establish new early voting sites on college and university campuses. With the primary and general elections rapidly approaching, there should be no delay in establishing these new early voting locations so that Florida students can enjoy full and equal participation in our democracy.”
